The VGL holds a Major Tournament once per Quarter, 4 per Season:
Fall Classic
Winter Heritage
Spring Open
Summer Championship
Each Major Championship recognizes achievement in two distinct ways.
1- Handicap Flight Winners
Players compete within their assigned handicap flight for the lowest GROSS score. Each flight winner receives a cash prize, providing golfers of similar playing ability an equal opportunity to compete for prize money.
2- Major Champion
The Major Champion is the player who earns the highest total leaderboard points during the event.
Major Championship leaderboard points are determined using:
" Weighted Hole Scoring Points
" Playing Handicap Points
" Closest-to-the-Pin bonuses
" Longest Putt bonuses
The player with the highest overall leaderboard point total is crowned the Major Champion, receives the Major Championship trophy, and qualifies for the Green Chip Invitational. This format rewards exceptional play throughout the event while ensuring that players of all handicap levels remain competitive for the championship.
Hole Scoring Bonus (every hole) +10 HSP
Designated Par 3 Bonus +20 HSP
Closest-to-the-Pin (x2) +50
Longest Putt (x2) +50
These bonuses are included when determining the Major Champion's final Leaderboard Score.
